Meet Sanna Stander, our exceptional Production Winemaker. Born, raised, and educated in Stellenbosch, South Africa, Sanna's passion for winemaking has taken her across the globe, where she gained extensive experience in renowned wine regions such as France and New Zealand. Since joining The Wine Studio in 2016, Sanna has played a pivotal role in the winemaking process, production, and logistics. Her exceptional palate, steady composure during the fast-paced vintage season, and intuitive approach to winemaking is highly regarded by our clients.

ASSISTANT WINEMAKER

Meet Kaitlyn, a seasoned professional who joined The Wine Studio in 2017. With over a decade of experience in the wine industry, she is an expert in Marlborough wines. Beyond that, she has gained valuable insights into winemaking techniques from her vintages in California, Australia, and France. Her diverse expertise brings a unique and rich flavour to her winemaking practices.

CELLAR OPERATIONS MANAGER

Meet Toby With more than 13 years of experience in the wine industry, Toby has a logistical mindset and a can-do attitude. He enjoys being hands-on in the winery and is responsible for developing and implementing production plans. Toby ensures that the products meet quality standards in a safe environment and are produced efficiently.

ASSISTANT WINEMAKER

Meet Richard Bethell, an enthusiastic young gun new to the Winemaking scene. He joined The Wine Studio in 2020 after completing a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in winemaking. Richard grew up in the Waipara Valley, which sparked his passion for the industry. Now living in Marlborough and having completed a vintage at Waiheke Island, Richard brings a solid understanding of the New Zealand wine industry. He has also completed vintages in in Australia and France.

Meet Dave, founder of The Wine Studio. Dave has over 25 years of experience in the wine industry and is known for his innovative winemaking approach and deep understanding of creating exceptional wine.  In 2017, Dave established The Wine Studio as a collaborative winery where like-minded winemakers from across our great region can come together and make fantastic wine.

David's vision and expertise has led to the success of renowned brands Two Rivers, Black Cottage Wine, and Clouston & Co and is the cornerstone of  The Wine Studio's commitment to showcasing diverse wine styles, winemaking philosophies, and dedication to the craft.
